Why Cambodia is a Must Visit

I mentioned in a previous post that I recently went on a trip to Vietnam. Before we finalized our itinerary, I added a few days in Cambodia and this trip would not have been the same without that incredible addition. Each city we visited throughout this trip was very different from the last and Siem Reap was no exception.

Angkor Wat was one of the main reasons that I wanted to visit Cambodia and seeing it at sunrise was one of the most memorable experiences of the trip. I promise it is worth the early wake up call! When visiting Angkor Wat, it makes sense to buy the multi-day Angkor pass and while Angkor Wat was exceptional, the other temples were just as incredible. Because of the extra early wake up call, I would suggest visiting the temples over the course of two days if time allows. I had honestly never heard of Ta Phrom, the jungle temple, before visiting but it is one of the most well known temples in Cambodia and my personal favorite. If you are an action movie fan you will recognize it as the filming location of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

Siem Reap is such a unique city because it is the home to plenty of ancient temples as well as the modern destinations such as Pub Street. We felt at home in Cambodia from the moment we arrived at our historic hotel and wished we had a few more days there!
